Why give?

  • Your donation helps remove financial barriers for women, teens, and caregivers who cannot afford therapy or advocacy services. This includes sliding scale support and scholarship assistance for families in crisis.

  • Funding allows us to expand specialized services for ADHD, trauma healing, perinatal mental health, and emotional regulation. These programs fill critical gaps in rural Oregon where very few providers offer this level of care.

  • Donations support the development, printing, and distribution of accessible ADHD and trauma friendly resources for families, schools, and caregivers. These tools are designed to be simple, supportive, and easy to use.

  • Your contribution helps create a scholarship program for families needing help with IEPs, 504 plans, or school-based accommodations. Many children fall through the cracks because their families cannot afford advocacy support.

  • Donations help furnish a safe, calming, sensory friendly office environment that supports neurodivergent clients and enhances their therapeutic experience.

  • Your support helps fund low cost or free community classes on ADHD, parenting, trauma, perinatal mental health, and nervous system education. These workshops empower families and strengthen our entire community.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

 FAQs

  • Many people are surprised to learn that private practices do not receive funding for anything other than direct clinical services. Insurance, including Medicaid, only reimburses for the time spent in a therapy session. It does not cover the cost of supplies, educational materials, community programs, advocacy work, or support staff. It also does not fund workbooks, sensory tools, technology, office space, or the administrative costs required to keep a practice running.

This means that everything outside the session is unpaid work that the therapist absorbs. For a practice like Wandering Minds Counseling & Consulting, which creates educational tools, offers low cost or free workshops, supports neurodivergent families, and provides advocacy assistance, these costs add up quickly.

Donations help bridge the gap between what insurance pays for and what our community actually needs. Your support allows us to continue offering accessible, trauma informed, neurodivergent affirming services without passing these costs onto families who are already struggling.

Your contribution directly helps sustain programs, resources, and support that would not exist without community generosity.

  • Yes. Many families served by this practice rely on Medicaid/OHP, which only covers direct clinical therapy sessions. Others fall into the gap of earning too much to qualify for assistance while still being unable to afford additional services. Medicaid does not cover non-clinical supports such as ESA letters (when clinically appropriate), academic advocacy, school meeting support, 504 or IEP guidance, or educational materials. Families who need these services often cannot cover the cost on their own.

Donations help bridge this gap by funding scholarships, low cost services, and accessible programs so families can receive the support they need without financial strain.

  • Your donation directly supports mental health access for women, teens, and families. Funds help cover therapy scholarships, academic advocacy support, community workshops, office improvements, and the creation of ADHD and trauma friendly educational tools. Every dollar goes toward making care more accessible in our rural community.

  • Correct. Insurance pays only for time spent in psychotherapy. Nothing else is covered. All costs for Care Coordination, advocacy (such as writing letters or phone calls to schools or service providers), technology, rent, supplies, training, education, administrative work, and community support come entirely out of pocket. Donations help sustain these essential parts of the practice.

  • If your donation is routed through a nonprofit partner or fiscal sponsor, it may be tax deductible. If donations are made directly to Wandering Minds Counseling & Consulting, they are not considered tax deductible at this time. If you have questions about charitable giving, please speak with your tax professional.

  • Your donation helps build a strong foundation for Wandering Minds Counseling & Consulting. As a new practice, there are many essential costs that insurance does not reimburse, such as office furniture, technology, clinical tools, educational materials, and the systems required to offer ethical and accessible care. Donations allow the practice to grow more quickly and sustainably, which expands the number of families who can receive support. Your contribution directly helps create a welcoming, neurodivergent friendly space and increases access to specialized services in a rural community that needs them.

  • Yes. Many donors choose to give in memory or honor of a loved one, a parent, a child, or anyone who has navigated ADHD, trauma, mental health challenges, or the caregiving experience. You are welcome to include a dedication with your donation. If you wish, we can send a brief acknowledgment to the person or family you are honoring.

  • If donations surpass the funding needed for a particular program or project, the remaining funds will be applied to the area of greatest need. This ensures that all contributions support the overall mission of increasing access to mental health care, advocacy, and educational resources for underserved families. Excess funds are never wasted. They are redirected to support scholarships, tools for neurodivergent clients, or community education programs that rely entirely on donor support.
